Internet Sites Providing ENUM-Related Information

RFC 2916, E.164 Number and DNS
This document is the core ENUM Protocol document. This document discusses the use of the Domain Name System (DNS) for storage of E.164 numbers. More specifically, it discusses how DNS can be used for identifying available services connected to one E.164 number.

A Dynamic Delegation Discovery System (DDDS) Database Using The Domain Name System
This document is an Internet Draft that describes a Dynamic Delegation Discovery System Database using the Domain Name System as a distributed database of Rules. The Keys are domain-names and the Rules are encoded using the NAPTR Resource Record. Since this document officially makes RFC 2915 obsolete, it is the official specification for the NAPTR DNS Resource Record.

RFC 2826, IAB Technical Comment on the Unique DNS Root
This document is an RFC presented by the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). This document explains why the DNS requires a single root in order to operate properly.

RFC 3026, Liaison to IETF/ISOC on ENUM
This document is an RFC that conveys the understandings of Working Party 1/2, of the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), whose collaborators met in Berlin, Germany, on October 19-26, 2000.

Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) web site
This is the web site for the Internet Engineering Task Force, an international organization that is concerned with the evolution and operation of the Internet. This web site provides an overview of the IETF, information about Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) activities, links to working group charters, Internet Drafts, and RFCs (Requests for Comments). It also provides information on upcoming meetings and proceedings of past meetings.

Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM) Working Group Charter
This web page contains the ENUM working group charter. This working group has been chartered to define a DNS-based architecture and protocols for mapping a telephone number to a set of attributes (e.g., URLs) which can be used to contact a resource associated with that number.

ENUM Call Flows for VoIP Interworking
This document is an Internet Draft that provides illustrations of the use of ENUM functionality and identifies issues associated with such use.

ENUM Administrative Process in the U.S.A.
This document is an Internet Draft that considers administrative processes for ENUM in the U.S.A. and offers two "strawman" proposals in the spirit of moving forward the work that must be done to implement a useful ENUM capability.

Voice Profile for Internet Mail (VPIM) working group charter
This web page contains the VPIM working group charter. VPIM Version 2 is currently a Proposed Standard (RFC 2421). VPIM is an application of Internet Mail originally intended for sending voice messages between voice messaging systems. This working group promotes the advancement of VPIM v2 on the standards track.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) working group charter
This web page contains the SIP working group charter. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) working group has been chartered to continue the development of SIP, currently specified as proposed standard RFC 2543. SIP is a text-based protocol, similar to HTTP and SMTP, for initiating interactive communication sessions between users. The main work of the group involves bringing SIP from proposed to draft standard, in addition to developing proposed extensions.

Assignment Procedures for the URI Resolution using DNS
